How did you first learn about Zuitt, and what made you decide to consider using it?
I first encountered Zuitt when I attended a seminar by CEO Kato held by an industry association to which we belong.
I was strongly attracted to the system that allows us to match directly with students, and we began considering it as “a new option for securing high-caliber engineers.” In addition, Zuitt’s proprietary screening process ensures a certain student skill level, which ultimately became the deciding factor for adoption.
What was especially good about the one-day work experience, and what moments left the biggest impression?
Seeing the candidates tackle the work with such enthusiasm was truly eye-opening. The preparation was demanding, but what left the strongest impression was that they actually got hands-on at our workplace and worked with genuine interest in our business.
Concerns you had about foreign engineers, and how you worked through them
When we previously considered hiring under the “Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services” visa category, our main concerns were the language barrier and potential mismatches in values.
Because Zuitt provides Japanese-language training and cross-cultural training both before and after joining, our fear of “being unable to communicate at all on the shop floor” was resolved. Furthermore, through a values survey and one-on-one interviews conducted during the one-day work experience, we were also able to confirm cultural fit—allowing us to make our decision with confidence.
How would you like to leverage Zuitt talent going forward?
First, we want them to become proficient in the core duties. Over time, we hope they will grow into a key member of our manufacturing division—leading new product development and equipment improvement projects.
A message to companies facing similar challenges
As the working-age population continues to decline, securing outstanding talent is the lifeline of the manufacturing industry. If a person has both the ambition and the technical skills, nationality is not an issue.
The hurdle is by no means low, but I encourage you to start with the one-day work experience and experience firsthand the vitality of Filipino students. I believe you will discover new possibilities.
